French Cocotte: project genesis
It’s been a while I wanted to give a boost to the blog and also I wanted to try something new. As you know, the essence of this blog is to highlight know-hows, craftsmanship, and made in France manufacturing: what better than to associate my self with them? And to associate you at the same time and to take you closer to the manufacturing process!
That’s how this crazy project began. And I owe the name, French Cocotte, to my man who found it during a family brainstorming: I loved it straight away! I’d like to know what you think about it even it’s too late to change it ; ))
French Cocotte: Marcel
Marcel is the very first French Cocotte project. It just became obvious: the Marcel top has been invented in Paris in the XIX century: it’s so frenchie! And also I wanted a clothe that you could wear all summer. I personally have a lot of such tops: I wear them with shorts, pants or a skirt. I wanted my Marcel to be boyish and girly at the same time!
The first model I show you today is the French Cocotte model: straight cut, you can wear it loose or fot depending on the size you choose. It’s both girly with the French Cocotte marking and its embroidered heart and sporty!
Believe me, suppliers I’ve chosen have proven to be valuable partners! Yes, I don’t forget that I’m not a designer, and that I never worked in fashion: I am totally self-taught! After a few phone calls at the beginning of the project, I quickly eliminated people who snubbed me, talking to me with technical words I did not understand. I closely worked together with Thierry, Patrick and Cécile who explained me things as simple as they were. I also had some help from my mother, who as a former professional seamstress, was responsible for quality control!
What a joy for me to go on the road and to visit this workshops and to meet those people: I truly l-o-v-e-d it!
Marcel is 100% made in France
Marcel is totally, fully manufactured in France: fabrics comes from Troyes, and labels are made in Saint-Etienne, whereas tailoring and emboidery is made in the region of Roanne!
French Cocotte: price
Of course, 49€ for a top is not accessible for all budgets, I know. But I wanted to propose a fair price compared to quality and also to prove that made in France does not always mean luxury.
I had a lot of fun to imagine and picture this modern French Cocotte! These nice photos were made by Justine Jugnet, as I truly love her work. And you’ll find this lovely decoration in Café Charmant close to Lyon: I have to thank them for their welcome! I let you imagine how customers looked as they entered the cafe and saw me dressed like that!
Made in France: French Cocotte Marcel Top, Zelda Citroën turban, Laulhère beret, Roseanna shorts, Nach Bijoux ring and pin’s / Apologie Paris clutch, Patricia Blanchet pumps, Week-End Max Mara jacket
A huge THANK to Sophie, my favourite designer!
