Today, I’d like to share with you a beautiful address I recently discovered : Prosper Maufoux B&B which is located in Burgundy, in Santenay. This guesthouse is certified as premium by quality label Gîtes de France.
A large house, an estate of winegrowers traders, which houses 3 large and beautiful chambres d’hôtes ; so what about the maison Prosper Maufoux, or where to start ?!
Decoration first : rooms are large, bright and decoration is nice. The atmosphere is very nice, both discreet and adorable, we feel very at ease. One of the best breakfasts I ever had in a bed and breakfast : cheese and delicatessen, eggs, bread, lots of pastries, fruits salad, fresh orange juice, etc, etc… My daughters ate like ogresses and they still ask for Pascale’s breakfast, the house lady.
And of course, you just have to go downstairs to visit the cellar and taste Prosper Maufoux wines (Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits, Côte Chalonnaise, etc…).
After a long winter spent without traveling, I really needed to see something else. We often think of distant destinations, but what a pleasure to spend a week-end away, not necessarily far from home : it’s different, time stops. Especially in a chambre d’hôtes where you just have to rest and seat to eat an amazing breakfast and where your only concern is to choose the next restaurant (Yeah I know, I’m obsessed with food…)
By the way, speaking of a restaurant, I have a very good address to give you :
My favorites of the week-end in Côte d’Or (Burgundy) :
Restaurant le Terroir in Santenay : practical, you just have to cross the square in front of the Prosper Maufoux house. A great service (really), a gourmet restaurant where children are welcome (I specify it because in France it’s rare enough to be mentioned !) and very good cooking from the starters to the dessert, and I shouldn’t forget the wine list : we discovered a great young winegrower from Santenay. I highly recommend !!!
The Rochepot Castle : we followed Pascale advice and chose this castle and we were not disappointed. It’s not huge but it’s well done, especially since there is furniture (I truly loved the kitchen !) : interesting for adults so as children.
Of course you shouldn’t miss Les Hospices de Beaune : we visited them a few years ago, so we didn’t come back, but it’s a must, as well as a walk in the streets of Beaune.
If you have good addresses in Burgundy to share with us, please comment ! I’d be glad to discover your own tips.
